He'd been banished from the heavens, previously - but he ascended again. He's spent most of his life in the mortal realm, so maybe it's more comfortable for him there.
I hadn't ascended yet, the first time, but I've heard the stories. He first ascended while he was still the crown prince of his kingdom, but not too long after he became a god, his kingdom was facing a crisis. He wanted to go down directly to help, but... gods aren't meant to do that without the permission of the Heavenly Emperor, but he went anyway.

I think it was good of him to try to help! ...but it went pretty badly, and he was banished as a result.

[it's comfortable! also, she's the god of the winds. if she gets too hot she can summon up a nice, cooling breeze.
they will, in fact, figure it out. the robes have so many layers she'll probably have to help meg into them, but it's fine.]
